Chapter 15
Gabriella
“Why wouldn’t you let me talk to him?” Gabriella asked, saddened that she couldn’t hear his voice. She needed his strength.
“If your lover-boy follows orders, you’ll see him in an hour.”
A large amount of tension left her body. Not all of it, of course. This crazy man could still hurt her if he felt like it. She decided there was no point in pissing him off. She had survived so far with minimal bruises and not being violated. There was no reason to push the envelope.
“He’ll bring you your money,” Gaby replied simply.
“He better!” Khakis barked back. “Or everyone pays.”
There was no way for her to tell how long she’d been held captive. The hours were blending together. She knew it couldn’t have been days. She had yet to eat or go to the bathroom, but her bladder was about to burst.
“I really have to go to the bathroom.” She knew it was a risk telling him, but it was emergency time.
“Come on, you can’t hold it?” He was definitely annoyed.
“No, I’m about to pee my pants.” When the sensation arrived, it went from zero to sixty. Maybe it was nerves, but she was about to pee all over the floor. Knowing he raped the last woman, she was scared to pull down her pants in front of him, but she had no other choice.
It took him a few minutes to decide. Rolling his eyes, he looked around, debating what to do. This couldn’t be the first time he’d dealt with this issue.
“Fine!”
He grabbed the same surgical knife and walked towards her. Gabriella leaned back in her chair, scared of what he’d do with it.
“Do you want to go or not? I have to cut the zip ties.”
“Yes,” she whispered, still freaked out with the knife so close to her skin again.
He sliced the zip ties from her wrists with one hand and held hard onto one of her upper arms with the other. Gabriella knew not to fight. She was so close to being saved; it wasn’t worth the risk. Once her hands were free, he sliced the zip tie around her feet with one movement of the knife. Gabriella’s knees ached as she stood. The last time they were together when she wasn’t tied up, she was scrambling to get away. This felt weird.
“Come on.” He tugged on her arm, not giving her legs any time to adjust to walking again. Gaby knew she needed to notice every detail about her surroundings. If they were going to catch this guy later, she could help. Prepared not to make it obvious, she’d take in what she could.
He opened the door, and the bathroom was right there to the left. Heat and humidity smacked her in the face. It was immediately obvious that only the office was air conditioned. Clearly, he didn’t care about her comfort; it had to be for his sake. Gaby glanced down the hallway while he pulled her inside the small room. There wasn’t time to notice much.
